Last week I went Ice Skating and after awhile on the ice I decided it was time to be done and to grab my camera and try some new things. I love skating. I am not great at it, I don’t even know if I would call myself good most times. I don’t get to do it enough, so when I get out on the ice I have to hug the wall for the first time around, but after that I have my groove back and I can go around normally. Ice Skating is part of me because my Grandpa was a Figure Skater, and I have been on skates since I was little. I can’t spin, I am not perfect at stopping, but I can glide and enjoy myself without falling most of the time. Ice skating is cool because there is constant motion involved, and I feel there is a built in graceful movement associated with it because you have to glide so you can move steadily along the ice. I decided to see if I could capture my take on the movement, and I absolutely LOVE these two pictures.

I used the Tv function on my camera which gives priority to the shutter speed. I made sure all my settings like White Balance and F-stop were what they needed to be, I then played around with different Shutter Speeds. Both of these pictures are taken at the following specs.
ISO 100, 50mm, f10, 1/4 Second
1/4 of a second gave me what I was looking for. If you try motion pictures of your own, let me know, so I can check out yours and see what worked for you!
