This shoot is the first of its kind, but hopefully the first of many. I have a friend named Heidi who is a florist, and she is fantastic. She and I are teaming up on a project to build her a portfolio, and the awesome thing about it is that I get experience doing detail shots. I love detail pictures, but if you are like me, you can’t just pick up the camera and take amazing detail shots. It has been and continues to be a learning process. Details are something I try to incorporate into each of my photo shoots, and most of my weekly pictures are detail pictures. This shoot helped me to see some of the things about detail shots that I am good at. I know about the camera settings, and I feel like I did well at finding spots in a difficult lighting situation. I learned that there are things I want to practice and improve on. I used my 50mm f1.8 lens for most of the shots. I want to learn about other lenses that might contribute to my ability to take good detail shots as well. I also realized that I would like to learn how more about lighting situations, and some of the options I have in photoshop. I am excited to do more photo shoots with Heidi, and gain more experience as I photograph her beautiful flower arrangements.
